
The history of the container fleet begins in mid-1950s when some bulk carriers and tankers have been converted for the transport of containers. The first was the container ship Ideal X , which was converted from an oil tanker of the Second World War. Such '' converted '' container ships could carry up to 1,000 TEU. In the early 70s, when the containers are beginning to be used massively in freight traffic, there are the first, " real " cellular container.
