As part of a program to support sailing as a profession, the Singapore Naval Officers' Union (SMOU) has invested SGD4m ($ 3.2) in a training simulator center. The Wavelink Training Simulator Center was officially opened on Friday, May 9th. The center has a 240-degree bridge simulator, an MO simulator, ECDIS and a liquid handling simulator.

Earlier this year, the Singapore Naval Officers' Union (SMOU), together with the Singapore Manpower Development Agency (WDA) and the Employment and Employment Institute, invested S $ 22 million in a 5-year, tuition-supported maritime education project to help Singapore citizens and residents obtain maritime education.

SMOU announced that the training center will be one of the key components of improving the quality of training for cadets and officers.

The opening date coincided with the seventh enrollment of 30 students at TNTA. The 6 months onshore training includes 100 hours of practice in training simulators.

“Previous groups of cadets could only look at static images of various ship instruments. But now we have the opportunity to get real management experience in various scenarios. I hope this training will give me a competitive edge over my peers, ”says TNTA cadet, Mckenrick Lim Jun Sheng.
