Today, from Odessa to the protection of the maritime boundary and territorial waters of Ukraine left the ship Sea Guard State Border Guard Service of Ukraine "Pavel Derzhavin." The ship operates a mixed crew of Odessa and Sevastopol military units of Defense.
As a reminder, at the beginning of March the ships and boats of the Sevastopol detachment, which were based at Balaklava, were redeployed to Odessa. The families of maritime border guards were also transported to the city (they received a temporary shelter in the sanatorium of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine "Odessa").
According to the head of the marine security department of the Southern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of the Second Rank Captain Igor Zapyantsev, the mixed crew was created so that the Sevastopol sailors got acquainted with the specifics of work on the section of the Odessa detachment. In the future, Sevastopol residents will go out on duty independently.
“Officers and sailors from Sevastopol are a serious help to our units. This will allow us to significantly improve border security, ”the head of the department is sure.
The captain of the second rank added that the tasks of the maritime guard, despite the confrontation with Russia, have not changed. First of all, ships and boats must prevent unauthorized violations of the state borders of Ukraine, control shipping in the region and counteract poachers and other offenders in the areas entrusted to the detachments.
