HMS Argyll delivered another blow to drug dealers, capturing over 850 kg of cocaine in a high-speed midnight pursuit. This is the third drug seizure for HMS Argyll over the past 3 months. This latest "catch" has a wholesale value of £ 36 million. The total amount of seized drugs is 1600 kg of cocaine with a total value of over £ 68 million.
Secretary of State for Defense Michael Fallon said: “HMS Argyll has a phenomenal success in disrupting the drug trade, which continues to have a negative effect on the UK. HMS Argyll detained a suspicious vessel after receiving a notification from a US customs aircraft that sent the ship to intercept. After a speedy chase, during which the smugglers began to throw their illegal cargo overboard, the ship, using high-tech radar, sent its small patrol boats to the violating vessel, which surrounded the smugglers and forced them to surrender.
