HMS Argyll delivered another blow to drug dealers, capturing over 850 kg of cocaine in a high-speed midnight pursuit. This is the third drug seizure for HMS Argyll over the past 3 months. This latest "catch" has a wholesale value of £ 36 million. The total amount of seized drugs is 1600 kg of cocaine with a total value of over £ 68 million.

Secretary of State for Defense Michael Fallon said: “HMS Argyll has a phenomenal success in disrupting the drug trade, which continues to have a negative effect on the UK. The crew does outstanding and hard work. British citizens can justly be proud of the professionalism and commitment of these people. Thanks to them, the drugs meant for our streets do not reach our shores. ”
HMS Argyll detained a suspicious vessel after receiving a notification from a US customs aircraft that sent the ship to intercept. The frigate assigned to Plymouth reached maximum speed and thus quickly reduced the gap to 70 miles. After a speedy chase, during which the smugglers began to throw their illegal cargo overboard, the ship, using high-tech radar, sent its small patrol boats to the violating vessel, which surrounded the smugglers and forced them to surrender.
In recent weeks, the ship HMS Argyll assisted in Bermuda after Hurricane Gonzalo and conducted two more anti-drug operations.
