All 14 Ukrainian sailors from the bulk carrier NEW LEO saved
The NEW LEO bulk carrier (Liberian flag) with the cargo began on the morning of December 4, during the transition from Elevsis Greece to Gemlik Turkey in the Aegean Sea during a storm, it underwent heavy rolling, which caused the cargo to shift and roll. As a result, the ship began to sink.
After the engine failed, the crew gave a distress signal, the Bessarabian media holding reported with reference to the Associated Press and REUTERS .
Greek authorities say that rescuers safely evacuated all 14 crew members.
Three military helicopters, two military vessels, a coast guard rescue ship and five merchant ships took part in the rescue operation.
In a statement, the Greek coast guard said that two NEW LEO sailors were injured, not life-threatening, they would need treatment in a hospital.
The condition of the vessel is unknown, the last AIS was recorded at about 17:00 UTC, the vessel was already in distress by then, not on the move.
