The Vietnamese dry cargo ship Hai Thanh 26-BIDV sank on March 28, 2017, 44 nautical miles from the port of Vung Tau, Vietnam, as a result of a collision with another vessel. Nine members of the crew of the Vietnamese dry cargo ship remain missing.
The incident occurred early in the morning. Two of the eleven crew members managed to land on the raft and wait for the help of rescuers. A second life raft was also found, on which people were not. The Vietnamese Ministry of Transport reported that a large-scale rescue operation was deployed to find the rest of the crew of Hai Thanh 26-BIDV .
The general cargo ship Hai Thanh 26-BIDV , DWT = 3.074, was built in 2010, was flying the flag of Vietnam. The ship owner and operator is the Chinese company Golden Ocean Shipping. About which vessel was the second participant of the incident, has not yet been reported. The Vietnamese authorities are investigating what happened.
