Crewing › Ultragas ApS

The company’s head office is located in Gentofte, Denmark. It is responsible for the strategic development of the company, commercial and operational activities including overall risk management. In order to provide customers with the best possible commercial service the fleet is divided in two gas segments with the commercial operation from two locations. The vessels below 15,000 cbm are managed by the associated company UNIGAS International BV, in Rotterdam, whereas the vessels from 15,000 cbm the so-called handy size vessels are commercially managed by Ultragas ApS from its head office in Denmark. In addition to undertaking the commercial management of its own handysize vessels Ultragas ApS also undertakes commercial management for external partners. Traditionally crewing and technical functions have been handled via the use of third party management services. However due to the fleet growth plan and a desire to control these areas via own dedicated staff, Ultragas decided to establish own in-house ship management services. This became a reality in 2014 when UltraShip ApS was established as a subsiduary of Ultragas ApS. This newly established company took over the management of its first vessel the LPG/C Happy Bird in April 2014. A key priority for UltraShip is to integrate safety into all aspects of the operation – thereby building a foundation for a high performing safety culture in the company. The company will take over the management of further units in the months to come, including all newbuildings in the extensive Ultragas newbuilding program. Crewing of Ultragas vessel has been undertaken since 1988 by a Philippine crewing company which is partly owned by Ultragas and a local crewing company. In September 2014 this company was re-named UltraShip Crewing Phil., Inc..
